nineteen days the sun (2013)

Instrumentation:

Performers: The Suburban Piano Quartet & guest collaborator, Diana Sussman

Artists Statement: nineteen days the sun is a new music-theater production that was created and performed in collaboration with The Suburban Piano Quartet, a new performance group based out of Ann Arbor, MI.  I was asked to join the group for this project, which turned out to be an exploration of cycles, cause and effect, and themes of simplicity, among other things.  We are still discovering the essence of the piece, but even in its early stages, it has an amazing power of warping time, slowing it down and allowing everyone involved to suspend thought for a while.

Performance History: Yellow Barn Community Center, Ann Arbor, MI - November 23, 2013

The Suburban Piano Quartet (SPQ) is a new performance ensemble comprised of Nadine Dyskant-Miller, Clay Gonzalez, Perry Maddox, and Corey Smith. They are dedicated to creating multi-media performance situations that draw upon our training as classical composers and performers but that also incorporate elements of movement, creative writing, improvisation, and installation.
